A word from our President

Patrick AMAR, président de l'AEC Patrick AMAR

« Coaching means accompanying a person or a group of people in carrying out either personal or professional objectives. Through co-construction that leads to autonomy, the coach and client form a dynamic partnership that enables the client to overcome obstacles in his or her development, letting new resources and skills emerge, improving performance and developing potential. »

The Association européenne de coaching (AEC) was set up in May, 2005 in Paris by University professors and professionals who were experienced in accompanying and training people. Our vocation is to create a place for encounters and exchanges for all coaching professionals who want to promote and enrich this profession in the scope of the highest professional, ethical and humanistic standards.

Three dimensions are particularly characteristic in the AEC: a dimension of being open to all forms of coaching in a European perspective, with high professional and pedagogical standard s, which place the accent on promoting the best practices for accompanying people and, finally, a social and humanistic dimension aiming to make coaching a vector of professional and relational reinsertion within the community.

Being open is expressed by a willingness to see all aspects of coaching in the AEC, whether they are professional or personal. It is also our hope, through our actions in a European context, as we position AEC in partnership with other well-known international organizations, that each person may be enriched by the expertise of others.

Promoting best practices for accompanying people is done by creating spaces where encounters take place as well as sharing through conferences, workshops, congresses, groups studying and researching practices, supervisions, exchanges with our international partners and publications intended to deepen the multitude of coaching practices.

The social and humanistic dimension is embodied especially through our « Solidarity Coaching », which allows us to open up access to coaching for people in difficulty, by offering free coaching.

As of 2006, AEC had 500 members, 20 thematic conferences organized in the year, 5 research and practices groups, regional correspondents and contacts with international partners. Since our creation in the middle of 2005, we have held three congresses with over 300 participants each time, plus150 missions of Solidarity coaching.
