Clause 1 - Constitution - Name
The present by-laws of the Association named « Association Européenne de Coaching » - « A E C » or « European Coaching Association » - « E C A »
As governed by the French law of 1rst July, 1901 and the publication of 16th August 1901 have been agreed by the members.
Clause 2 - Scope
This association aims to develop, promote and defend by all the means possible the profession of coaching, as well as the applications concerning coaching or similar disciplines.
It can also organize a centre for coaching sessions, research, publication and training.
Clause 3 - Offices
The office is located at 75008 PARIS, 29 rue François 1er.
The office may be transferred in the same city and suburbs by a simple decision of the Board of Directors.
With the approval of the Board of Directors, local chapters of the Association may be created in France and outside of France.
Clause 4 - Duration
The Association has been constituted for an unlimited duration.
Clause 5 - Members
The Association is composed of founding members, active members and supporting members.
- Founding members are persons who have composed the first Bureau of the Association, a list of which is included in the appendix. There shall also be active members who will have the same rights and duties.
- To be considered as active, members shall have been approved by the Association and shall have paid annual dues. They shall participate in the activities of the Association and in fulfilling its objectives...
- To be considered as supporting, members shall have paid their annual dues equal to at least ten times the dues of an active member. Their membership depends on the decision of the Board of Directors. They shall also be active members and have the same rights and duties.
Clause 6 - Admission of members
Any person who wishes to become an active member in participating in the Association’s activities may make a motivated request and fulfil conditions as stipulated in the by-laws.
Clause 7 – Loss of membership
Withdrawal from the Association may occur without any effect on the existence of the Association caused by members leaving:
- those members who have resigned in writing to the president of the Board of Directors, or as concerns the loss of membership at the expiration of the current year ;
- those who have not paid their annual dues ;
- those whose membership has been cancelled by the Board of Directors as voted by a majority of its members who sit on it, for any infraction concerning the present by-laws, or for any grave fault, fifteen days after having been warned by certified letter to present their explanations. The decision will be given to the excluded member also by certified letter within five days following the decision; this letter shall indicate if there shall be any reimbursement, either total or partial, or not at all, of the dues for the current year.
Clause 8 - Resources
The resources of the Association come from:
- dues paid by the members, the amount of which shall be set each year by the Board of Directors;
- subsidies from the government or city authorities;
- any other subsidy and/or donation intended to aid the Association in pursuing its goals;
- sums received for any services or activities of any description within the scope of the Association.
- any other resources authorized by legal texts that have the force of law.
Clause 9 – Funds in reserve
A reserve fund has been planned, including:
- capital coming from dues;
- buildings required for the Association’s operations;
- capital coming from money saved in the annual budget.
Clause 10 - Personnel
To fulfil its mission of general interest, the Association may recruit qualified personnel.

The Association has a Board of Directors with at least three members with a renewable mandate, selected from the founding, active or supporting members, elected by
